THE HISTORY OF OUR CLUB

Welcome to the Egham & Staines Model Railway Society.

The club was started by a number of local enthusiasts in 1965 and some of them are still members today. Our Clubhouse was part of the old Staines Stock Car Stadium. We have  six layouts permanently erected  in the clubhouse which gives members the maximum amount of time to enjoy running their models. The club did not have any models of its own, only the layouts, but recently some old Hornby models have been donated to the Club. Each layout has its group of members but we all help each other with problems and ideas. Some layouts are controlled by the traditional DC system and some are converted to be able to be run by DCC or both DC and DCC.

Within the clubhouse we have six large layouts permanently erected of various scales and gauges. On the land behind the Clubhouse we have renovated the garden railway track base where live steam and electric trains in O Scale, 32mm & 45mm narrow gauges can be run.

We also have books and videos available for members to research their latest project
